I am a married mother of 4. I have the most wonderful husband who is my rock and closet friend. Throughout the last couple of years, we have grown closer that we thought possible and I couldn't be without him now.
My 4 babies - 3 are angel babies and I have 1 gorgeous Earth child.
During a routine 20 week scan, we were told our child had a number of abnormalities that were an indicator of a chromosome condition.
After an amnio was done, we were given the diagnosis of Trisomy 13.
We were offered a termination if that is what we were wanted but after searching the internet, we found a website that gave us hope and so we continued with the pregnancy.
On 9th March 2009 - our amazing little fighter Lily came into the world.
She had a number of physical abnormalities including a cleft lip and palate, but all we saw was pure perfection.
Lily was well enough to come home after a couple of days but on the 2nd day of being at home, she started to fit and suffer apnea episodes.
We were taken to a hospice where we could get the care that we needed not only for Lily but for us also.
On the 14th March, Lily passed away in my arms.
Throughout the night, Lily had been getting weaker and weaker and we knew that she didn't have long as so we spent the morning making as many memories as we could. We had her feet painted and prints made, she had her first and only bath and as many cuddles and kisses as we could fit in.
Being blessed with a child with Trisomy 13 is a wonderful yet heartbreaking experience.
